After 11 rounds we've finally made a cut to the Top 16, and it's filled with high-caliber, extremely determined duelists. We featured Jordan Winters in Round 7, and we've brought him back for the Top 16 feature. He's using a fairly standard Burning Abyss build, while his opponent - Scott Sheahan - is also playing Burning Abyss. Sheahan is from Illinois, and he - as well as four other Top 16 duelists - earned his points at the YGO Series Chicago Open. We're down to the single elimination rounds, and without further ado let's get started!

Winters won the die roll and opted to go first. He opened Effect Veiler, Vanity's Emptiness, Supply Squad, Phoenix Wing Wind Blast, and Karma Cut. He set Phoenix Wing Wind Blast and Vanity's Emptiness.

Sheahan started with Supply Squad. He then Normal Summoned Mathematician. Winters used Effect Veiler to stop the milling effect. Sheahan then used Foolish Burial to send Graff, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss to the graveyard, but Winters chained Vanity's Emptiness to its effect to stop it! Mathematician hit directly for 1500. Next, Sheahan used Allure of Darkness to draw two cards and banish Cir, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss. He set two backrow and ended.

Winters drew Scarm, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss. He weighed his options for a moment before settling on setting it and activating Supply Squad. In the End Phase Sheahan used Mystical Space Typhoon on Supply Squad. Vanity's was destroyed.

Sheahan Normal Summoned Mathematician. He used its effect to send Graff, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss to the graveyard, which brought out Scarm. It was destroyed, and Supply Squad allowed Sheahan to draw a card. Mathematician attacked into Scarm and Sheahan took 500 damage. He set one and ended.

Winters drew Tour Guide From the Underworld. He Normal Summoned it, destroying Scarm, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss, and Sheahan chained Vanity's Emptiness. That was all Winters needed to see before diving into his Side Deck for Game 2! A rough set of draws leaves Winters grasping, and in the end he was just too far behind to pull out the win. Will he mount a comeback? Only time will tell!

Winters chose to go first. He opened with Tour Guide From the Underworld, Graff, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss, Vanity's Emptiness, Karma Cut, and Mystical Space Typhoon. He Normal Summoned Tour Guide From the Underworld and used its effect to Special Summon a Graff, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss from his deck. He overlaid them both for Dante, Traveler of the Burning Abyss. He used its effect to detach Graff, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss and mill a Supply Squad. Scarm was Special Summoned from the deck. Next he Special Summoned Cir, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss from his hand. He overlaid Cir and Scarm for another Dante, Traveler of the Burning Abyss, which he used to mill a Phoenix Wing Wind Blast by detaching the Scarm. He set his hand and in the End Phase searched Graff, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss.

Sheahan used Supply Squad. Then he Normal Summoned Mathematician to send Graff, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss to the graveyard. Winters used Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Supply Squad. Scarm, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss was Special Summoned from the deck and it destroyed itself. In the End Phase Sheahan added Tour Guide From the Underworld to his hand.

Winters drew Phoenix Wing Wind Blast. He used the effects of both Dantes to mill six cards combined, and throughout the detaches and mills Cir, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss and Graff, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss were triggered, Special Summoning a Cir and a Scarm. He overlaid his two monsters for Number 30: Acid Golem of Destruction and Sheahan picked up his cards. We're going to Game 3!

(Ben Leverette wanted it to be known that he was avidly trying to get into a picture)

Sheahan opted to go first. He started with Tour Guide From the Underworld, but was met with Winters' Maxx C. The Guide Special Summoned Scarm, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss from the deck and Winters drew a card. Sheahan set two and passed.

Winters started with Scarm, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss, Effect Veiler, Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning, Pulling the Rug, and two Supply Squads. He activated both Squads, Normal Summoned Scarm, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss, and Sheahan used Phoenix Wing Wind Blast on it when it declared an attack into Guide. He set Pulling the Rug and ended, but it was hit by Mystical Space Typhoon in the End Phase.

Sheahan overlaid Tour Guide From the Underworld and Scarm for Dante in attack position, using its effect to mill Phoenix Wing Wind Blast, Mathematician, and Mystical Space Typhoon by detaching Scarm. Next he Normal Summoned another Tour Guide From the Underworld but Winters used his Effect Veiler to negate it. Both monsters attacked directly to drop Winters to 4500 Life Points. He set one and searched Tour Guide From the Underworld in the End Phase.

Winters drew Scarm, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss and Normal Summoned it, but Sheahan revealed the Compulsory Evacuation Device and the match was all over!

Winters draws almost unplayable hands in Games 1 and 3, resulting in Sheahan winning the match. Could Sheahan go on to win this event? We're moving on to the Top 8, and it's a definite possibility. We'll have to wait and see.
