Welcome to another Monday installment of Market Watch! Where we count down the bestselling cards in the TCGplayer marketplace, compiling sales data from over a thousand active Yu-Gi-Oh! sellers to find tournament trends and player reactions to upcoming releases.

Today we'll look at the biggest sellers from Friday morning to Monday morning, and we'll see what the market looked like in the wake of the release of Legendary Decks II.

The Legendary Decks II collection came with a ton of awesome reprints we didn't really expect, making both the Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Red-Eyes B. Dragon themes vastly more approachable. Five of our ten bestsellers over the weekend were directly influenced by the boosted accessibility of those two themes, while two more cards were new from the Legendary Decks II release itself.

Beyond the influence of Legendary Decks II, the remaining three cards in the Top 10 were a function of current tournament trends and upcoming releases, as Fluffals, Juunishishi, and Masked HERO Dark Law gather momentum in the eyes of competitors.

Today's Top 10 was a little more straightforward than most, so let's get right to it!

#10: Return of the Dragon Lords

With Dragon Spirit of White, The White Stone of Legend, The White Stone of Ancients, Master with Eyes of Blue, and The Melody of Awakening Dragon all getting reprints in Legendary Collection II, any cards for the Blue-Eyes White Dragon deck that weren't reprinted in the Collection or the 2016 Mega-Tins saw a big surge in demand; players clearly flocked to the deck, which meant they needed to pick up straggling cards like Sage with Eyes of Blue and our Number 10 pick for the weekend, Return of the Dragon Lords.

#9: Frightfur Tiger

We already discussed the power level of the upcoming Frightur Kraken a couple Market Watches back: by recycling it with cards like De-Fusion and Frightfur Sabre-Tooth you can overcome the Kraken's “one or the other” offering of its effects, blowing away your opponent's field and then Double Attacking.

Better yet, you can just clear those cards with Frightfur Tiger instead and you get even more freedom to abuse Kraken as an attacker. With the Kraken's send-to-the-graveyard ability and the Tiger's mass destruction you can wipe anything barring immunity to targeting, and from there the Tiger can buff the Kraken's ATK to the tune of double damage.

Kraken's been sort of flying under the radar lately given all the Juunishishi hype, but there's a ton of potential there, and that launched Frightfur Tiger into the Number 9 spot.

#8: The Melody of Awakening Dragon

A must-run three-of in the Blue-Eyes White Dragon deck, The Melody of Awakening Dragon managed to retain a high price point despite its reprinting in both OTS Tournament Pack 2, and the 2016 Mega-Tins Mega Pack. Back as an Ultra Rare in Legendary Decks II its value has finally flattened, and with a rarity upgrade from its previous Common and Super Rare printings to boot.

This was an obvious buy for anyone who didn't own the card yet, and Melody players who just want a little more sparkle probably picked it up as well. It's interesting to see R&D continuing to follow this pattern of “new reprint, higher rarity” that we saw before in releases like the Ultra Rare Soul Charge from DRL3. It's clearly got an audience.

#7: Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon

Similar things could be said for Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon: even the Common reprint of the card in Premium Gold: Infinite Gold was hugging the four dollar mark until Legendary Decks II offered an Ultra Rare alternative.

A mix of Red-Eyes fan service and a legitimately important competitive card, Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon's appeal is pretty clear and it's no surprise to see it on the Top 10. It's weird seeing it outpace three-ofs, but that's nothing we haven't seen before in similar cases from the past.

#6: Dragon Spirit of White

It's a Blue-Eyes card, that you absolutely have to play, usually in pairs, and it jut got reprinted in Legendary Decks II. I'm still surprised Dragon Spirit of White sold more than The Melody of Awakening Dragon, but life is mysterious. Technically speaking there are probably more copies of Melody floating around than Dragon Spirit, due to the sheer number of times Melody was printed?

Something like that.

#5: The Black Stone of Legend

I think The Black Stone of Legend might have been the single most expensive card of the past year that had absolutely no chance of meaningful tournament play. This thing was nearly fifty bucks for a while, as under-supported Joey fans exploded out of the woodwork for this legitimately cool and powerful card coming off Clash of Rebellions.

Even now, the Ultra Rare reprint costs nearly five bucks; it's the third most sought-after card in Legendary Decks II, behind Ties of the Brethren and Eternal Soul, which makes it the most valuable reprint from the set.

#4: Phantom Knights' Wing

The second-fiddle Phantom Knights' trap card has seen substantial play lately, often used to protect Masked HERO Dark Law. A first turn Dark Law absolutely pummels the majority of the expected field today, disrupting your opponent's graveyard and deterring them from using search effects. The challenge is keeping it on the field with its vulnerable 2400 ATK.

And that's where Phantom Knights' Wing comes in, boosting it to a much more respectable 2900 ATK and forcing your opponent to successfully destroy it twice to eliminate it (short of banishing it or sending it to the graveyard by other means). A Turn 1 Masked HERO Dark Law with Phantom Knights' Wing is really tough to deal with right now, since so many of the answers to that card require the use of the graveyard to function optimally, if at all.

Right now this is a small trend we've only seen manifest a few times in Top Cut finishes, but with such big sales numbers on Phantom Knights' Wing, you should be aware of its potential presence in your upcoming events.

#3: True King Agnimazud, the Vanisher

One card you won't have to worry about any time soon is True King Agnimazud, the Vanisher. This thing is seeing play as a three-of in recent OCG tournaments, anchoring Juunishishi builds, and that's what ignited the fever for the card. You can check out an example list over at The Organization, from the Card Strike local on October 9th.

Sure, you can run the Vanisher in stuff like Yang Zings as well, but I don't think that was what catapulted it to Number 3 over the weekend. Juunishishis are one of the most hyped themes of the year and they continue to have an impact on the North American market, months in advance of their release stateside.

#2: Eternal Soul

And to no one's surprise whatsoever, the two biggest cards from the weekend are the two biggest marquee singles from Legendary Decks II.

Searching and recycling your Dark Magicians, making them immune to card effects, and then fetching copies of Dark Magic Attack and Thousand Knives from your deck, Eternal Soul is a free card advantage machine that just might push Dark Magician decks into the local level spotlight. Right now the Champion Pack 5 reprint of Thousand Knives is still in stock, but the PCY original prismatic Secret Rare has been sold out for days, a quiet testament to the popularity of Eternal Soul.

#1: Ties of the Brethren

And finally, Ties of the Brethren is an astounding new card with more uses than I think anyone's quite figured out yet. Gadgets, Rock Stun, and Majespecters are the decks that immediately come to mind for me, but Frogs, Bujins, Beasts, and even one of my all-time favorite underdogs, the Noble Knights, can all play it.

Personally I can't wait to see where this card winds up seeing play. It's an exciting new effect that we've never really seen before, and it's got a ton of potential to cause serious craziness.

What else was big over the weekend? Void Imagination put in huge numbers from a niche audience, after featuring in several Top 8 Infernoid builds; it's proven to be really powerful against a field of Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Burning Phantom Knights, and different Pendulum decks. More Dragon cards like Maiden with Eyes of Blue, The White Stone of Ancients, and Dragon's Mirror all did big numbers, as did the newly-popularized Side Deck pick, Book of Eclipse.

Inzektor Hornet and Left Arm Offering both sold in surprisingly big numbers, while cards like Mystical Space Typhoon and Majespecter Cat – Nekomata continued to demonstrate the rising popularity of various Pendulum strategies. There were a lot of trends in action across the TCGplayer marketplace this weekend, giving us lots of clean data and a lot of insight into current and upcoming trends.

That's it for today, but check back on Friday for another Market Watch, as we see the response to this weekend's Regional results!
