Welcome to another Friday edition of Market Watch!

Invasion: Vengeance hit the TCGplayer marketplace a week ago, and on Monday we saw the first impact: Metalfoes, Paleozoics, and Red-Eyes cards took nine of the Top 10 slots, with the Number 1 bestseller being Pot of Acquisitiveness.

So what changed between Monday and Friday? Not much. While we had a couple new additions in the wake of new Top 8 lists from Regional Qualifiers, a lot of the top sellers from last weekend just continued to sell in droves, and the biggest trends were largely still in place across the past four days. With no further ado, let's jump right into the countdown.

#10: Fullmetalfoes Fusion

Slipping slightly from the Number 7 position on Monday, Fullmetalfoes Fusion proved to be a game-changer in Regionals, while Metalfoes emerged as one of the clear winners of the post-INOV landscape. Fullmetalfoes Fusion adds a new level of maneuverability to the Metalfoes strategy and extends the deck's reach in going for game. As a Quick-Play Spell it adds a ton of damage in the Battle Phase, making Metalfoes even more deadly than before.

#9: Meteor Black Comet Dragon

Holding strong at Number 9 just like Monday, Meteor Black Comet Dragon's an awesome pick with Red-Eyes Fusion, placing a 3500 ATK monster on the field and burning your opponent for a cost that's effectively “better than free.” The ability to load your graveyard with stuff like Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon and Lightpulsar Dragon is phenomenal, and the search power of Red-Eyes Insight makes Meteor Black Comet ridiculously consistent.

While Red-Eyes will likely remain a locals-level deck at best, it's tough to ignore that those were the same expectations most had for Dark Magician. With that deck now Top 8'ing Regionals, hopeful duelists may see similar potential in Red-Eyes cards.

#8: Paleozoic Opabinia

Down from Number 5, Paleozoic Opabinia's a flexible card that turns any two Level 2's into a defensive wall, a repeatable searcher, and a speed-driven enabler that hurries Paleozoics along by letting you activate them faster. It's a must-run in multiples for any Paleozoic deck, and that fact – combined with its affordable price tag – kept Opabinia in the Top 10.

#7: Paleozoic Dinomischus

Down from Number 2, the Paleozoic Karma Cut's a three-of in any Paleozoic deck, offering a tremendous effect that's undercosted thanks to the Paleozoic revival mechanic. A powerful removal card in an era where un-targetable monsters have declined in popularity, its continued sales tell us a lot about the appeal of Paleozoics moving forward.

#6: Metalfoes Mithrilium

Up from Number 10 last week, Metalfoes Mithrilium was a two-of in every Metalfoes deck we logged in the Deck Archive, bumping it to an average Market Price of nearly ten bucks. Offering a flexible non-destruction effect that can clear problem monsters on a 2600 ATK body, Mithrilium's a problem-solver, a game-ender, and a wall thanks to its self-replacing ability.

An all-purpose troubleshooter that recycles Metalfoes and adds a further element of graveyard management, it's going to be hugely influential moving forward, and its status as a relatively low cost Ultra Rare likely made it a tempting buy to both Metalfoes players and collectors alike.

One of the surprise arrivals in the Top 10 this week, Subterror Behemoth Stygokraken leapt right to the Number 5 spot at an uber-cheap Market Price. Doug's going to show you a new Metalfoes Subterror build in his article on Monday, so tune in for that if you want to see this thing in action.

#4: Red-Eyes Insight

Slipping just one spot from Number 3 on Monday, Red-Eyes Insight is still one of THE hottest cards from Invasion: Vengeance. While Insight was on a downward Price Trend earlier in the week, it's now leveled off and is sitting at a 75 cent average Market Price. There's still deep stock in the TCGplayer marketplace, but we saw a ton of traffic this week from players looking for Red-Eyes lists. The hype train clearly hasn't slowed– keep an eye on the front page this week, because we're going to show off some Red-Eyes decks to sate that impressive hunger.

#3: Raremetalfoes Bismugear

Swapping spots with Red-Eyes Insight from last week and shifting from Number 4 to Number 3 on our countdown, Raremetalfoes Bismugear was even more popular in the past four days than it was over the weekend. A three-of in most Top Cut builds, but occasionally played just in pairs, Bismugear's become an impressive addition to its home strategy by adding precision monster searching to the Metalfoes mix.

Armed with a monster effect that works when you destroy it from the Pendulum Zone to feed another Metalfoes' Pendulum Effect, Bismugear makes an already-reliable deck that much more consistent and adaptable. It's a staple for Metalfoes players moving forward, and again, the strong sales suggest that we'll be seeing even more players flocking to Metalfoes in the coming week or two.

#2: Magician of Dark Illusion

The second big surprise of the week, Magician of Dark Illusion exploded into the Top 10 by taking the Number 2 spot. Dark Magician's been on the rise lately: Jeff Jones took a near-miss X-2 finish at YCS Minneapolis that landed him at 34th Place. A week later Jay Collette Top 8'd the Knoxville Regional in Tennessee, and two weeks after that Kevin Ponce topped the Taylorsville Regional in Utah.

Those three performances made a lot of players stand up and take notice, and while Dark Magician isn't the new deck-to-beat, it's a fan-favorite strategy driven by nostalgia, and it's now clearly possible to be livin' the dream and top tournaments with it. Magician of Dark Illusion's a must-run three-of in any foreseeable build, and that's put it on a rising Price Trend as demand continues to spiral upward.

If we see Dark Magician top again this weekend, this card's just going to keep gaining momentum.

#1: Pot of Acquisitiveness

And finally, the bestselling card last weekend took the Number 1 spot again, as Pot of Acquisitiveness remained the most-wanted card from Invasion: Vengeance. A great fit for ABC's and Burning Phantom Knights, Pot of Acquisitiveness is the perfect answer to Ghost Reaper & Winter Cherries, cycling itself away for a free draw that winds up being a +1 if your opponent wasted their Ghost Reaper.

Even if you don't see Ghost Reaper & Winter Cherries, it's easy to cycle Pot of Acquisitiveness away by returning banished ABC-Dragon Buster components or spent Phantom Knights to your deck, so it's never a dead card for long. While there are some definite risks, it's seen quite a bit of tournament success in its first days out, and that will likely continue through the weekend.

What else was hot? The trends in the Top 10 continued on down the line, as Meteor Dragon Red-Eyes Impact clocked in at Number 12, Paleozoic Marrella at 13, Subterror Behemoth Ultramafus at 15, and Fullmetalfoes Alkahest at 16. From there, Crystron Citree reprised its Number 11 finish from Monday, and Nine Pillars of Yang Zing kept moving to the tune of the Number 14 place.

While it's basically guaranteed that Metalfoes and Paleozoics will top events this weekend, decks like Red-Eyes, Dark Magician, Crystrons, and Yang Zings are positioned as the decks to watch. Even a single Top 8 showing could send one of those decks into the spotlight, and really boost demand for their key cards.

Join us again on Monday to see how the weekend shakes out!
