Welcome back to another Monday Market Watch!

The weekend saw just a handful of Regional Qualifiers in North America, Europe, and Australia, and not much news has emerged from the recent YCS in Rio de Janeiro. But that didn't stop some big shifts from happening in the secondary market, as we saw in the TCGplayer marketplace.

As always, we're looking back on the last four days of sales here on TCGplayer, where over a thousand active Yu-Gi-Oh! sellers vie for your dueling dollars, offering massive stock and huge opportunities for comparison shopping. Here in Market Watch, we count down the Top 10 bestselling cards in sheer sales volume regardless of price and card rarity, to try and get a picture of where the game's going in the TCG, and what players are reacting to in the far-off distance of Asia's OCG.

And this week, we had some surprises.

#10: Metalfoes Mithrilium

Hovering near sold out status in the TCGplayer marketplace as of this writing, Metalfoes Mithrilium was Number 6 in our last Market Watch, and went from a two-of to a possible three-of over the weekend, when Billy Brake played three copies with two Fullmetalfoes Fusion to win the San Antonio Regional Qualifier with Majespecter Metalfoes. A combined beatstick, removal trick, and Pot of Avarice rolled into one, Mithrilium's frequent status as a priority elimination for Solemn Strike led Brake to run a third copy, and the near sellout status combined with rising Price Trend could indicate that it's the start of a change in how competitors view the card.

Or, it could just be players flocking to Metalfoes period. The deck continues to go neck-and-neck with ABC-Dragon Buster in Top Cut numbers, attracting more players by the day. Either way, Mithrilium's tremendously hot, and demand is starting to outstrip supply.

#9: Dragon Core Hexer

Dragon Core Hexer might not look like much, but it's playing into a lot of niches right now. As a Level 8 Dragon it's a natural fit in Blue-Eyes White Dragon decks, since you can dump it with Trade-In or Dragon's Shrine, revive it with Silver's Cry, and pair it with Blue-Eyes for Ultimaya Tzolkin or a Rank 8.

Controlling plays on the opening turn have become a new focus for the struggling Blue-Eyes strategy, and Dragon Core Hexer looks like the latest in new measures to keep the deck relevant.

Many years of dragonslaying have bathed this huntress in countless amounts of blood. Each drop gave her more power, but a terrible price, as her cursed body now spreads the dragontaint like an epidemic. No village will take her in, and she no longer even remembers what inspired her crusade in the first place.

#8: Crystron Citree

Hovering at Number 11 in our previous Market Watches, Crystron Citree finally broke through into the Top 10 as demand for Metalfoes cooled and flavor-of-the-week cards filtered out of the bestselling positions. While we've yet to see Crystrons break through into Regional Top 8's just yet, Citree's revival effect makes for one-card Synchro Summons and efficient card economy.

It's an obvious lynchpin for the strategy, and as a low priced Ultra Rare on a downward Price Trend, an obvious pick for both collectors and speculators, as well as anyone who thinks they might want to play Crystrons some time in the future.

#7: True King Bahrastos, the Fathomer

Following on the heels of True King Agnimazud, the Vanisher from The Dark Illusion, the latest True King is more feasible for competition; while Agnimazud demanded Fire monsters for its effects, you Summon True King Bahrastos, the Fathomer by destroying Water monsters… pretty easy to do with themes like Paleozoics and Frogs offering you so much free fodder for that purpose.

Effectively a banishing Twin Twisters on legs, Bahrastos is awesome at demolishing Pendulum Scales and backrows alike. It saw some play in the OCG, and we'll have to see how it fares here stateside. For now it's another low-risk high-potential investment, sitting at an average Market Price of less than a buck.

#6: Meteor Dragon Red-Eyes Impact

Up from Number 12 on Friday, Meteor Dragon Red-Eyes Impact continues to ride the wave of hype for Red-Eyes cards, despite the lack of any notable tournament performances so far. While Impact fell out of the Top 10 on Friday, it's now right back where it was a week ago, perhaps to the chagrin of Lightpulsar Dragon.

#5: Fairy Tail - Snow

Fairy Tail – Snow's been a huge dark horse factor in tournament play ever since it was released, chiefly featuring in Lightsworn decks; they continue to top events where ever players can get their hands on Minerva, the Exalted Lightsworn. Now, it's the first non-Invasion:Vengeance card to crack the Top 10 since the newest booster set's release, and as Lightsworn continues to be successful, Snow's starting to appear in Top Cut Fluffal and Zombie decks as well.

Fairy Tail – Snow's a tremendously powerful card that offers a unique form of disruption and protection, at a cost that's often better than free. Expect to see the decks that play it do better and better in the near future, and expect to see it appear in more strategies where ever possible.

#4: Red-Eyes Insight

Reprising its Number 4 position from Friday, Red-Eyes Insight continues to be one of the biggest sellers from Invasion: Vengeance, bringing out the new Meteor Black Comet Dragon while setting up your graveyard for more followup. Do Red-Eyes decks have what it takes to start topping Regionals? A lot of players seem to be gambling on the possibility, though with such a low price, a lot of this could just be casual and “just in case” purchases.

#3: Fullmetalfoes Fusion

With Billy Brake proposing the use of a second Fullmetalfoes Fusion to facilitate greater damage and some cool new plays, it rocketed to Number 3 after languishing at Number 10 on Friday. It's very possible that we're seeing Metalfoes take over from ABC-Dragon Buster as the new deck-to-beat, so anything and everything Metalfoes is hot right now.

Especially if it involves innovation to beat the mirror match, like this.

#2: Pot of Acquisitiveness

Bumped from Friday's Number 1 spot, Pot of Acquisitiveness is fast becoming a Side Deck staple for any strategy that can lose to Ghost Reaper & Winter Cherries. Easily integrated into ABC-Dragon Buster and Burning Phantom Knights and rarely dead due to those themes' tendencies to banish their own cards as a matter of course anyways, it's steadily remained a must-own. It's now on a recovering price trend, though the available stock in the marketplace is still in the hundreds of copies.

#1: Raremetalfoes Bismugear

And finally, the big winner of the week was Raremetalfoes Bismugear, taking Metalfoes to all new heights of precision and consistency! No surprise here; while we saw a few Top 8 finishers last week playing only two copies, it's an axiomatic three-of to most Metalfoes players in the know. And with Metalfoes coming off the weekend looking so strong, it's no surprise that players were stocking up on Bismugear.

With sales trends demonstrating high interest in the theme, expect to see more Metalfoes in upcoming tournaments.

Also big this weekend? Catalyst Field took the Number 11 spot, followed by Frightfur Tiger fresh off the reveal of Frightfur Patchwork in the OCG's Dimension Box Limited Edition. Return of the Dragon Lords clocked in at Number 13, showing more interest in Blue-Eyes White Dragon, and Crystron Quann's Number 15 spot shows further fascinating in the marketplace surrounding Crystrons.

That's it for this week, but join us again on Friday when we see the fallout from the weekend's slim Regional lineup, and any emerging news we might get from YCS Rio de Janeiro – still largely undocumented thus far.

See you then!
