Welcome to another Monday Market Watch!

As we count down the days to the release of Raging Tempest, a lot of the action in the TCGplayer Marketplace has remained steady. Different Dimension Demons have been in high demand ever since the start of the new year, and despite lackluster Regionals results for two weekends straight, sales remained high for everything that managed to avoid reprinting in the Pendulum Domination Structure Deck.

But a couple key shifts occurred over the weekend. The North American debut of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Dark Side of Dimensions movie coincided with the timely release of the accompanying Movie Pack: Gold Edition, and the result looks to be a surge of enthusiasm for Cubics. While we saw steady demand for the new Duza the Meteor Cubic Vessel ever since its release in the reduxed Movie Pack, this weekend saw a huge upswing of interest in other Cubics as well.

OCG import news continued to spike demand for an old fan-favorite theme, a popular Structure Deck card continued to see big sales, and a couple strong performances last week from a new-ish Zoodiac variant combined with a popular combo video to rock a well-acknowledged card straight to Number 1 in our latest Top 10, starting Friday morning and reaching to Monday.

With so much action in the Top 10, let's dive in and see what's new.

#10: Cubic Mandala

I'm unclear as to how important Cubic Mandala is to an actual Cubic deck. It seems most builds don't run it? But that didn't stop it from selling a ton of copies, with its highly powerful win-more type effect. It's flashy, I'll say that much, but I'm not sure if this is selling copies for actual legitimate play value, or because it has casual curb appeal and an appealing role in the movie.

#9: Indiora Doom Volt the Cubic Emperor

I'm feelin' like fandom created the boosted demand for this one, too. Indiora does have a role in lots of Cubic decks, but it's largely just at two-of in pure builds at best, featuring as a singleton or seeing no play at all in more hybridized versions of the deck.

#8: D/D Necro Slime

Once again, the D/D Slime monsters made the Top 10, though their slow, oozing decline from the higher echelons of the sales charts continues.

#7: D/D Swirl Slime

Both D/D Necro Slime and D/D Swirl Slime are integral to the modern D/D/D strategy, and neither were reprinted in Pendulum Domination, so they've continued to retain their must-own status. It's still a bit surprising to see them selling so well as demand remains steady despite weeks of big purchases, and the deck has yet to deliver in big tournaments.

#6: D/D Savant Thomas

Less surprising due to its much more limited availability, D/D Savant Thomas was never reprinted in anything after its initial offering in The Dark Illusion, save for the European-only release of the TDIL Special Edition.

Weeks after the card's first big payoff for ample speculation in late 2016, D/D Savant Thomas remains at a respectable average Market Price of nearly four dollars, with available copies hugging the $5 mark in the TCGplayer Marketplace. While the card fell a bit in sales over the weekend, the price has remained high despite pages of stock available. The level of demand is still really keeping this one up there.

#5: Return of the Dragon Lords

With Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon reprinted in Movie Pack: Gold Edition, and Blue-Eyes White Dragon decks continuing to Top 8 Regionals, Return of the Dragon Lords has been one of the highest-demand cards of the past few weeks. Riding a slightly declining Price Trend, Return's still in relatively short supply and has now climbed to an average Market Price of over $5.50.

That's a bit surprising, since you can get the whole Structure Deck shipped for less than eight bucks. But regardless, Return of the Dragon Lords remains an essential card for a popular deck, with both tournament and fan appeal. That's kept it firmly in the Top 10.

#4: D/D/D Flame King Genghis

And finally, D/D/D Flame King Genghis has actually outsold D/D Savant Thomas for the first time in recent memory! Why the big upswing in demand for Flame King? That's a good question, and I'm not sure we have a firm answer. It might just be the after-effect of Thomas' sustained price point, which makes it affordable enough for players to pick up their three copies, but unattractive to speculators looking for growth potential.

With D/D/D Flame King Genghis on an upward Price Trend but still hovering around the $2.50 mark, it's still approachable to virtually any potential buyer. That meant big sales over the weekend.

#3: Symphonic Warrior Drumss

Last week we learned that Symphonic Warrior Guitarrs, Sizerrs, and Miccs would make their way stateside as OCG import cards in our version of Raging Tempest, news that kicked up big demand for Symphonic Warrior Basses.

This time around we saw Symphonic Warrior Drumss get the push as players flocked to get their copies, and Symphonic Warrior Piaano saw a spike in demand as well, clocking in at Number 15.

#2: Duza the Meteor Cubic Vessel

After several weeks as a Top 10 bestseller, it's no real surprise that the biggest enabler for the Cubic strategy wound up as the bestselling card from the theme the past four days. In addition to Duza, the Meteor Cubic Vessel at Number 2, we also saw Cubic Rebirth sell enough copies to make the Number 12 position; Dark Garnex the Cubic Beast right behind it at Number 13; Vulcan Dragni the Cubic King at 14; and Buster Gundil the Cubic Behemoth at Number 17.

It was a huge week for Cubics, but one card managed to best them, virtually out of nowhere

#1: Shiranui Solitaire

A big combo card in a variety of Zombie variants toward the end of 2016, Shiranui Solitaire exploded to the top of the salescharts this weekend, in the wake of a few admirable performances in the OCG. Zoodiac Shiranui hybrids have topped here and there in logged OCG tournaments for weeks, appearing in several OCG deck recaps recorded by our friends over at The Organization. Those variants got a big boost off Maximum Crisis, just released two weeks ago in the OCG, and the hype was spurned on by a widely viewed combo video posted by Jon Moore's House of Champs channel not the first time a HoC video has spiked demand in one of our Top 10 countdowns.

Combined with the release of Shiranui Sovereignsaga and the Zombie-type Sea Monster of Theseus in our version of Raging Tempest, the result was a whole lotta Zombie hype, and massive numbers of Shiranui Solitaire moved in the TCGplayer Marketplace. Note that while Solitaire's on a gently rising Price Trend, it's yet to see a big spike in value, despite the fact that supply is drying up fast. Speculators and concerned players could easily buy it out by the end of the week.

And that's it for this installment of Market Watch! We already discussed the Symphonic Warriors and Cubic monsters that barely missed the Top 10, but aside from those cards the only other notable entry in the Top 20 was Interrupted Kaiju Slumber, still seeing big sales at Number 16. Again, expect to see Kaijus in a lot of Zoodiac Main Decks as soon as Raging Tempest goes legal.

Will the Cubic crush survive the week? Will Different Dimension Demons finally fall from the Top 10? And will we see that Shiranui Solitaire price spike. We'll be back to answer those questions and more, four days from now in our upcoming Friday Market Watch.

See you then!
