After Monday's giant shakeup in response to the announcement of new rules pending in the OCG, the TCGplayer Marketplace returned to something a little more normal over the course of the week.

The Top 5 bestselling cards in our last Market Watch were Swords of Revealing Light' rel="/db/WP-CH.asp?CN=Spiritual Swords of Revealing Light">Spiritual Swords of Revealing Light at Number 5, an innovation from YCS Seattle; Reborn Tengu at Number 4; Blasting Fuse at Number 3; Ground Collapse at Number 2; and Senet Switch at Number 1, all selling out on the strength of market speculation and Link Summoning hype. The Agent of Creation – Venus and Mystical Shine Ball clocked in at Number 9 and Number 8 respectively for the same reason.

None of the Link Summon-hyped cards made the Top 10 or anywhere close to it over the week, though Swords of Revealing Light' rel="/db/WP-CH.asp?CN=Spiritual Swords of Revealing Light">Spiritual Swords of Revealing Light continued to be popular as word spread of its successful use. Instead we saw the continuation of some Raging Tempest trends, some more responses to tournament happenings, and one card that might have been caught up in the riptide of Link Summoning fervor.

Here are the Top 10 bestselling cards this week, as determined by number of cards sold from Monday morning to Friday morning.

#10: Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit

Don't own Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit yet? You probably have plans to pick yours up soon, as it's fast becoming a Side Deck staple and it's already seeing tons of play in Main Decks. A fantastic answer to a variety of threats in the top strategies today, especially Zoodiacs, Ghost Ogre's a huge pick that no competitive player should be without.

Perhaps the number one card you don't want your opponent to have when you're going first, Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit's so popular that it's quickly pushing My Body as a Shield into a favored position over other choices in flexible tech slots. Frankly I'm surprised Shield is taking so long to grain ground, since it stops mass removal, Zoodiac Drident, and Ghost Ogre, all of which you can expect to see in the majority of your competitive matches for the foreseeable future.

#9: Pre-Preparation of Rites

With the speculation on Link Summoning and related cards now passed, and a number of big, popular cards from Raging Tempest simply no longer available in the quantities needed to make the Top 10 list, the path is clear for this perennial favorite to return to Market Watch stardom.

For the uninitiated, no card spent more time in the Number 1 slot week to week than Pre-Preparation of Rites, despite it seeing no actual competitive use since its release. But with Shinobirds becoming a casual refuge for aspiring rogue players, and lots of potential moving forward into further releases down the road, Pre-Prep was a big pick once again this week.

#8: D/D Necro Slime

Different Dimension Demons barely saw tournament success once the Pendulum Domination Structure Deck finally arrived, and they're now positioned poorly against tech cards run to beat bigger strategies like Zoodiacs. But that didn't stop a surge of interest in the strategy, as D/D Necro Slime sold heavily to take the Number 8 spot. D/D Swirl Slime nearly made the Top 10 as well, coming in at a surprising Number 12.

D/D's will likely have no competitive future until an F&L List curbs Zoodiacs, but some players may be seeing that as an opportunity to stock up on these cards now, expecting a format correction. Will that wind up happening? No idea. But with the Slimes still affordable, it's a cheap Gamble to make.

#7: Fusion Recycling Plant

Still one of the best-received cards from Raging Tempest, Fusion Recycling Plant's been a common sight in our Market Watch Top 10's since the set dropped. While it's weak to chainable removal, those removal cards actually aren't seeing as much play now as they usually do, and synergy with new cards from Fusion Enforcers – which went tournament legal just today – likely fuelled the continued demand.

Will it prove competitive now that Fusion Enforcers is here? We'll have to wait and see. But with dwindling supply left at reasonable prices, early success in Regionals this weekend could create an interesting market reaction.

#6: Return of the Dragon Lords

Return of the Dragon Lords!... Still selling in huge numbers despite nothing playing it in the OCG or TCG. This recurring trend made more sense when it was like, “Okay, sure, Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon just got reprinted. Guess people are revisiting Blue-Eyes.”

But now? No idea.

#5: Artifact Lancea

Another must-own hand trap, Artifact Lancea's not quite on the level of Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit when it comes to sheer volume of use, but it probably should be, with Infernoids continuing to gobble up tableshare at tournaments and Kozmos making a comeback in Top Cuts.

While it's not seeing as much play as Ghost Ogre, it IS seeing more sales, probably because fewer players owned Artifact Lancea. While it's seen competitive play before, it was never as popular as Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit in previous formats, and has arguably never been as important as it is today. That's meant a lot of catch-up, which has handily placed it at Number 5.

#4: True King Lithosagym, the Disaster

The latest of the True King monsters has been the Number 1 selling card from Raging Tempest since the set debuted, True King Lithosagym has become a staple of True Draco decks in the OCG, though the number of copies played depends on the build. Duelists run anywhere from one to three copies in different variants, but that alone has made Lithosagym a hot pick here in the TCG, where you can still often find it for under a buck.

#3: Swords of Revealing Light' rel="/db/WP-CH.asp?CN=Spiritual Swords of Revealing Light">Spiritual Swords of Revealing Light

The big buyout card of the week, Swords of Revealing Light' rel="/db/WP-CH.asp?CN=Spiritual Swords of Revealing Light">Spiritual Swords of Revealing Light jumped to $2 and higher after a successful Top 32 showing from one of the biggest trendsetters in the game, repeat Champion and beloved star duelist Billy Brake.

Let's be honest: if you don't love Billy Brake, you're probably just dead inside.

Spiritual Swords offers two or more turns of defense in a format where games are often won in that length of time, and it was especially great in Brake's 60-card Infernoid deck, where he could yard it with milling effects and protect himself from direct attacks for free, or draw it and protect his field, including his all-important Infernoid Decatrons. As Brake said himself post-event, “This card, every time I drew it, was actually just insane. Won me every game.”

#2: Blackwing - Gofu the Vague Shadow

Flying under the radar over the weekend, Blackwing - Gofu the Vague Shadow could be a big deal if it turns out that you can use Token Monsters for Link Summons when the new rules arrive.

Will that happen? No idea. I'll go out on a limb and say probably not. You can't Xyz Summon with Tokens, almost entirely because that would be overpowered, and Link Summoning would make about as much sense for sake of game balance. But as far as I know that outside possibility was the only factor generating discussion about the card this week, and it was enough to move a ton of copies.

#1: Windwitch – Ice Bell

While Windwitches were missing from our Monday Market Watch due to the influence of Link Summoning, we saw a big surge of interest in the theme a week ago which landed Windwitch – Ice Bell at Number 6. Now, despite a price point of over $10, Ice Bell surged again to capture the Number 1 spot. That's impressive for a theme that remained low key over the weekend, and it strengthens the suggestion that we may see Windwitches play a role in upcoming Regional Qualifiers.

It's always a bit of a surprise when a card of this value outsells everything else in the marketplace, so expect players to be invested in the copies they've purchased, and get ready to see at least a few Crystal Wing Synchro Dragons in the coming weeks.
