Welcome to the first Friday Market Watch of the new format, and the last one before YCS Denver!

Monday's Market Watch got swerved by the arrival of Duelist Saga over the weekend, but things are now back to normal as DUSA hype's dying down quick. Just like the week before Duelist Saga hit, the biggest factor guiding sales trends from Monday to Friday was anticipation for the new True King Dinosaur strategy, as we prepare for the Dinosmasher's Fury Structure Deck next week and Maximum Crisis shortly thereafter.

But early results from the first Regional Qualifiers of the new format set trends as well; some of the biggest tech cards of the weekend sold in droves, at least one of them for the first time ever. Meanwhile one Duelist Saga pick managed to remain in the Top 10, and it might not be the one you'd guess. Which card was it?

Let's get right into it and find out, as we count down the Top 10 bestselling cards of the past four days in the TCGplayer Marketplace!

#10: Droll & Lock Bird

First up, Droll & Lock Bird's been a sold out pick on and off for the better part of the last month, in part a response to Zoodiacs and in part a reaction to incoming threats like True Kings and Dinosaurs. It didn't make the Top 10 the past couple of weeks in part due to limited availability, but the card's now restocked and players bought up tons of copies.

Hand traps are huge at the moment, and while Droll & Lock Bird's seen virtually zero competitive play in 2017 and Zoodiacs may be playing a smaller role in competition by the time this weekend's over, the Bird's still a big prospect for many.

#9: Harpie's Feather Storm

This was a surprise appearance on our last Top 10 countdown on Monday, and Harpie's Feather Storm persisted as the only Duelist Saga card to stick the Top 10 this week.

There's some speculation going on over the idea that we might see Harpie's Feather Duster back the next time the format changes. And we've started to see this card appear in decks like Gladiator Beasts, which get a boost from upcoming releases. The speculative element's probably the main factor though, and that's resulted in Feather Storm costing more than two bucks.

#8: Baobaboon

Judging from the Top 8 lists we saw at early Regionals it looks like Metalfoes didn't have a great weekend, but the fate of the deck will really be determined Sunday when we see the Top 32 from YCS Denver. People were betting hard on Metalfoes the last few weeks with strong sales numbers on both Lonefire Blossom and Baobaboon, but the slip to Number 8 this week could represent declining faith in the strategy.

More thoughts on that a little later.

#7: Cosmic Cyclone

Cosmic Cyclone's seeing considerably more play in the new format, and as it starts to appear alongside Twin Twisters – and instead of it – players are buying up enough copies to drive it back into the Top 10. Expect to see more Cosmic Cyclone in your tournaments this weekend as it continues to gain tableshare.

#6: Denglong, First of the Yang Zing

Last Friday we saw Denglong hit the Number 7 spot as a ton of key cards for the True King Dinosaur deck sold in droves. Now, with the market's hunger for Duelist Saga subsiding, Denglong's back at Number 6. With the Dinosmasher's Fury Structure Deck just a week away, and True King Dinosaurs dominating tournaments in the OCG, the Dino hype came roaring back this week.

#5: True King Agnimazud, the Vanisher

Speaking of… True King Agnimazud, the Vanisher is the second most-played True King in that Dinosaur deck, so it's no surprise to see it clocking the Number 5 spot this week. While its average Market Price for the last week was just over five dollars, the most affordable copies now available in the TCGplayer Marketplace are hugging ten bucks and it's on a predictably upward price trend.

If you don't have your True Kings now, you may be stuck playing catch-up over the weekend. A lot of players are still behind the curve on True King Dinosaurs, but more and more are figuring out that they're probably the next big thing.

#4: Photon Cerberus

Speaking of next big things, a little-known Super Rare from Number Hunters stole the show this week when it was played by Niko Schlierkamp in Zoodiac Metalfoes, to a Top 8 finish at the Frankfurt Regional Qualifier. It's very similar to Denko Sekka, but it doesn't keep you from setting your own cards while it's on the field; that's important in a strategy where Denko can interfere with your Metalfoes Pendulum effects.

It's a smart little innovation, and it's the kind of thing Metalfoes players are going to need to consider if the deck's going to survive this format. It's cool stuff, and while sales on Baobaboon were down, the surge here may suggest notable interest in Metalfoes after all.

#3: Lost Wind

Paleozoic Frogs tore it up in Regional Qualifiers last weekend and may be the de facto deck-to-beat for YCS Denver. It's no secret that Lost Wind's become a definitive three-of for that strategy, and the big sales it saw this week probably indicate more players migrating to the strategy. No surprises there; lots of players likely wanted to pick up the deck before it potentially wins YCS Denver.

Note that while 60-Card Paleozoic Frogs continues to overtake more conventional builds in the wake of Joshua Schmidt's win at YCS Prague, where Schmidt and others first played Absolute King Back Jack to kick off a huge trend, Schmidt was back at it this past weekend with even more innovation. He pushed the deck even further into new waters, running double Aegis of the Ocean Dragon Lord.

#2: True King, Lithosagym the Disaster

True King Lithosagym was one of the first big sellers from Raging Tempst, and its fast adoption as a must-run in the True King Dinosaur deck only made it more of a hit the past few weeks. Sitting on an upward price trend but still available for under three bucks, it's absolutely no surprise that it's still selling so well.

The True King Dinosaur deck's going to be a really affordable strategy even if the handful of cards it plays from Maximum Crisis wind up being pricy, and players are placing their bets on the deck far in advance of Dragonic Diagram's arrival.

#1: Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit

And finally, with Maxx "C" now Limited and players running more and more hand traps, the ubiquitous Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit claimed the Number 1 spot this week!

A staple for many strategies for the better part of the year so far, Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit's a must-own for any tournament player. And since the summer WCQ season's ramping up with YCS action this weekend, it was a huge buy for players getting ready for competition.

What else was big this week? The classic Summoner Monk almost made the Top 10 at Number 11, played in True King Dinosaurs and anything else that wants to make big plays with Rank 4's. Interrupted Kaiju Slumber took the Number 12 spot as Kaijus saw big play last weekend, especially in Infernoids, while Instant Fusion took Number 13 as Lunalight Black Sheep, Fusion Substitute, and Elder Entity Norden continue to work their way into more strategies.

Finally three more of the biggest movers from Duelist Saga kept some of their momentum, as Elemental HERO Honest Neos came in at Number 14 for the week, Fallen Paradise took Number 15, and Gozuki took Number 16 as Lightsworn Zombie players started to Top 8 with it.

That's it for this week, but join us again on Monday when we see the Marketplace impact of YCS Denver! It's going to be a formative weekend that'll shape the next few months of both tournament play and secondary market trends, so don't miss our first look at the fallout next week.
