Welcome back to another Monday Market Watch, after another weekend of Dinosaur success in Regional Qualifiers!

With early results in from the Regional in Altoona Iowa, we've already seen tons of True King Dinosaur variants Top 8 Regionals once: Christopher Hughes topped with a version that's basically an adapted post-MACR deck, while Conner Walden compensated for the lack of Dragonic Diagram by playing a really cool Zoodiac engine featuring triple Zoodiac Ramram in Iowa. Meanwhile Travis Foster and Von Adams both topped the Pennsylvania Regional with slightly more conventional builds too.

What impact did that have on the TCGplayer Marketplace?

Not much. The Number 1 spot was set right after a weird slip last week, but beyond that we're seeing even more enthusiasm for Ancient Gears as supply runs low on Dinosaur cards. In the mean time there seems to be a revolving door of demand for Dinosmasher's Fury reprints, and a couple new entries broke through into the Top 10.

With all that in mind, let's get right to it. Here are the Top 10 bestselling cards in the TCGplayer Marketplace from last Friday to this morning.

#10: Quaking Mirror Force

Freshly reprinted in Dinosmasher's Fury, Quaking Mirror Force has been a moderately popular tech choice for a while now, played in a variety of strategies to delay attacks and leave opponents vulnerable against reprisals. It's seen the most play this year in Paleozoic Frogs, but while that deck's trending downwards lately, it's still appearing pretty commonly in Zoodiacs and a variety of Side Decks.

Now available for about two bucks after long being eight dollars or more in its original printing, it's a huge buy for players that didn't have their copies yet. Structure Deck reprints: always great for getting good cards into the hands of budget players.

#9: PSY-Framegear Gamma

A splashed suite of three PSY-Framegear Gamma and a single PSY-Frame Driver has become popular in OCG territories in Asia the last several weeks. You can click on over to our friends at the Organization and see Gamma being played all over in True King Dinosaurs, Yang Zing Dinosaurs, Metalfoes Kozmos, and True Dracos, and it sees more limited play in decks like Lightsworn, Mermails, and Infernoids.

While it's seen next to no play here in the TCG, players are clearly buying up their copies early in anticipation of post-MACR trends. That sent PSY-Framegear Gamma on a gently rising Price Trend, and now its average Market Price is just above $8.

#8: Nine Pillars of Yang Zing

Yang Zings get a bit of a boost from both Dinosmasher's Fury and Maximum Crisis, and this weekend that resulted in a spike of interest in the deck's powerful control card, Nine Pillars of Yang Zing. If you're familiar with it, you know the kind of strong set-ups Yang Zings can create setting multiples on Turn 1, and if you don't, just know that it's like Infernity Barrier on steroids.

#7: Evolzar Laggia

Evolzar Laggia and Evolzar Dolkka have both been consistent Top 10 sellers lately, and this weekend was no exception. Some build sof True King Dino builds are currently running multiple copies, and while that may not persist through Maximum Crisis era, it's kept demand high for now.

#6: Ancient Gear Reborn

No stranger to our recent Top 10's, Ancient Gear Reborn is a slower card that compensates for its pacing with promises of big card economy. In theory, it snowballs over time to deliver big card advantage, free attackers, and lots of Fusion Material.

Does it actually work in practice? Ehhhh, we'll see over the next few weeks. For now, it seems like a bit of a misstep in a competitive landscape that moves so quickly and features so much disruption.

#5: Evolzar Dolkka

Evolzar Dolkka has all the appeal of Evolzar Laggia, plus a bit more of a driving scarcity with a price point a few dollars higher. While there was a huge shortage of Dolkkas a couple weeks ago, supply has caught up to demand and the price trend is starting to even out as a result. That might change if True King Dinosaurs tear up tournaments once MACR drops, but for now Dolkka seems to be at a secure value.

#4: Chaos Ancient Gear Giant

On Friday I remarked that we'd need some more time to see if the massive demand for Ancient Gear cards was a flash in the pan, and here we are: four days later, Ancient Gears are even bigger than they were last week.

It's pretty surprising to me, but with True King Dinosaur cards getting scarcer and scarcer, the Ancient Gear cards are still really accessible, and that may be one of the big factors driving demand.

Chaos Ancient Gear Giant's a massive 4500 ATK multi-attacker that ruins lives when it hits the field, and while it takes four Fusion Materials to field, it's not entirely impossible to play. Most of the big decks all have answers to it, but it can definitely steal some games, and it's clearly got a fan base of true believers based on the steady sales it's raking in.

At this point I'm REALLY waiting to see an Ancient Gear deck top something. The number of accounts of the deck cropping up in locals is rising by the week, so it could happen. I've gone from being skeptical to rooting for the mechanical underdog.

#3: Ancient Gear Howitzer

Man, I really wish Ancient Gear Hunting Hound took Number 3 this week. It would've been a sweet segue off the “mechanical underdog” line.

Instead the third bestselling card from the weekend was Ancient Gear Howitzer, a must-run as the easiest of the Ancient Gear Fusion Monsters to field. With a snazzy little burn effect and an awesome recruiter ability that fields massive monsters, it's an absolute lynchpin for dedicated versions of the deck, and it's been big in the TCGplayer Marketplace ever since its release. As long as players are still interested in Ancient Gears, it's going to be one of the biggest cards going by sheer volume of sales.

#2: Ancient Gear Hunting Hound

Ladies and gentlemen, your slightly delayed mechanical underdog.

I feel like at this point we've beaten the discussion of Ancient Gear Hunting Hound to death, but yeah: burn effect, decent ATK against a cleared field, and an effect that turns 3-for-1 consolidations for Ancient Gear Howitzer into more palatable 2-for-1's with a protected upside. If you're trying to build Ancient Gears as a dedicated strategy involving the Fusions this card's the only way to do it, and one of the biggest reasons that's even worth considering.

#1: True King Lithosagym, the Disaster

And finally, the king takes its rightful throne yet again! True King Dinosaurs were huge this weekend in both North American Regional Qualifiers, and that made True King Lithosagym, the Disaster the star of the weekend. With just one more weekend of competition remaining before Maximum Crisis goes legal and Dinosaurs get Dragonic Diagram, that's not going to slow any time soon.

Lithosagym's the hottest card in the game right now, still on a rising Price Trend but hovering at just $5. It's a great time to pick up your copies in case they go even higher, which certainly seems likely as the deck's only going to be more successful over the coming weeks.

True King Dinosaurs shaped a lot of the action south of the Top 10 this weekend, with True King Agnimazud, the Vanisher clocking at Number 11 and Phantom Fortress Enterblathnir coming in at Number 14. The hype surrounding new SPYRAL cards from Maximum Crisis combined with Jesse Kotton's incredible success with his SPYRA build this month pushed SPYRAL Resort to Number 12, while Instant Fusion and Twin Twisters took Number 13 and Number 15 respectively.

It's been a crazy couple of weeks since the release of Dinosmasher's Fury and Machine Reactor, and the Maximum Crisis Sneak Peek weekend is only going to heat things up. Join us on Friday and stick with us into next week to see where the market's headed, as we ramp up to the release of the next core booster set.
