Welcome to another Monday Market Watch, as we await the return of Regional Qualifier competition next month, and as we hold our collective breath for a new F&L List.

On Friday we saw the new Time Lords break into the Top 10, as Time Maiden became the tenth bestselling card in the TCGplayer Marketplace and Zaphion, the Time Lord shot straight to the Number 1 spot. Lightsworn remained popular despite a bit of a tumble from the weekend prior, while Giant Rex and some key reprints from Battles of Legend filled out the rest of our countdown.

This weekend saw some shifts in sales patterns, as players turned their attention to the arrival of Starter Deck: Link Strike later this week. Lightsworn, Time Lords, and Giant Rex remained popular, but Spellbooks saw a huge surge of demand after weeks of success in Asia's OCG, and a fan-favorite power spell vaulted into the Top 10.

If you're joining us for the first time, Market Watch is our twice-weekly look at sales in the TCGplayer Marketplace, where over a thousand active Yu-Gi-Oh! sellers offer their best prices. Because the TCGplayer Marketplace is so big the volume of sales is massive, giving us a chance to observe the number of specific cards sold to thousands of buyers each week.

By reducing that data down to a final Top 10, we can make educated interpretations about how players are reacting to new products, overseas news, and recent tournament results. That can help you make the right moves for your collection, and prepare you for what you'll see at your next tournament.

Today's Market Watch covers sales from Friday morning to Monday morning, so let's get to it! The following are the Top 10 bestselling cards on TCGplayer.

#10: Felis, Lightsworn Archer

While Solar Recharge and Raiden, Hand of the Lightsworn both made repeat appearances in the Top 10 last week, Felis, Lightsworn Archer largely dodged most of the recent hype for Lightsworn cards. Zach Butler didn't play it in his Top 32 deck at the North Am WCQ, and while Felis has seen lots of tournament play in the past, it often fades in and out of competition when Lightsworn variants are viable.

But with the need for Raiden, Recharge, and Wulf seemingly sated, the upswing for Felis feels like an understandable market correction. It's especially good with Minerva, the Exalted Lightsworn, which is finally more accessible thanks to its reprint. I don't expect to see Felis in Friday's Top 10, but it makes sense for a one-off.

#9: Number 62: Galaxy-Eyes Prime Photon Dragon

This card's played competitively in True Draco decks in the OCG, featuring in both Card of Demise builds and Spellbook variants. A gateway to cards like Galaxy-Eyes Full Armor Photon Dragon and Number 95: Galaxy-Eyes Dark Matter Dragon, it opens up a range of powerful effects backed by strong ATK.

It's also played in Blue-Eyes White Dragon decks, which continue to be a factor in the TCGplayer Marketplace, if not in tournament competition.

#8: Ties of the Brethren

ABC-Dragon Buster benefited from the new Link Summoning Rules when they were introduced in the OCG, and with Link Strike just a few days away, demand for Ties of the Brethren spiked accordingly. While it's useful in a variety of other strategies, from Counter Fairies to Majespecters, Ties features heavily in ABC's and it's the single most competitive deck that currently plays it.

Don't be surprised if ABC-Dragon Buster makes a big push right out of the gates once Regional Qualifiers start up again.

#7: Spellbook Magician of Prophecy

The release of Spellbook of Galdrabok in Code of the Duelist singlehandedly returned Spellbooks to the tournament spotlight overseas, offering a killer draw effect that becomes a fast plus of card economy when you search it with Spellbook Magician of Prophecy. The August 4th release of COTD isn't that far off, and it's easy to see why players tried to get ahead of the demand for key Spellbooks this week.

#6: Zaphion, the Time Lord

Down from the Number 1 spot on Friday, Zaphion, the Time Lord remained wildly popular over the weekend, offering an effect that does an unparalleled job clearing the field of backrows, Field Spells, and Pendulum Scales. The ability to play around cards that would still be useful if they were sent to the graveyard or Extra Deck is a big factor making this card so powerful, and Zaphion remains unique, affordable, and thus attractive.

As the Time Lord seeing the most Main and Side Deck play in the OCG right now, it's almost surprising to see it slump to Number 6.

#5: Evilswarm Exciton Knight

Evilswarm Exciton Knight's been Forbidden for a very long time here in the TCG, but it's Unlimited in the OCG, and the fact that it was reprinted in BLLR has led many players to believe it could come off the next F&L Lists here in TCG territory. Those suspicions made it a hot pick over the weekend, pushing it all the way to Number 5 on our Top 10.

#4: Kamion, the Time Lord

Zaphion was met by not one, but two more Time Lords in the Top 10 over the weekend. Like Zaphion, Kamion eliminates problem cards without destroying them, offering a sort of spot removal for single threats that can't be chained to. It even adds a little burn damage to the mix, which is a nice touch. In the OCG, Kamion's the second-most played Time Lord behind Zaphion.

#2: Lazion, the Time Lord

The Time Lord in charge of graveyard hate actually managed to trump the rest in sheer sales this weekend. What that says about players' expectations for the early days of Link Summoning is up in the air. It's intriguing to see Lazion outperform Kamion and Zaphion, since both have seen relatively standard Side Deck play in the OCG, while Lazion's been shut out in recent weeks.

#1: Giant Rex

And finally, Giant Rex is back on top yet again! Dinosaurs continue to be huge in the TCGplayer Marketplace, and like we said last week, that could be a big indicator for what the next Advanced Format could look like if Zoodiacs get smashed with the banhammer.

There are a LOT of Dinosaur players just itching to go prehistoric on their opponents, and between Giant Rex now and True King Lithosagym, the Disaster earlier in the year, it's surprising to see just how strong the enthusiasm is for the theme.

Looking beyond the Top 10, we saw some more big shifts. Gladiator Beast Andabata took the Number 11 spot out of nowhere, while Sadion, the Time Lord moved up to Number 12, giving an even better idea of just how popular the Time Lords are becoming. Vision HERO Adoration took Number 13, Magical Meltdown took Number 14, and more surprisingly, Mermail Abyssteus came in at Number 15. Invoked will likely see play in the post-Link era, but Mermails are more unexpected.

That's it for the weekend, but we've got a lot of great stuff lined up for you this week here on TCGplayer, and we'll be back on Friday with our next Market Watch! See you then.
