YCS Toronto and YCS Rimini take place this weekend, and we've got one last look at the action in the TCGplayer Marketplace this week, before the Championship season officially kicks off.

The 2017 Mega-Tins released today, but they've been in pre-sales since mid-Wednesday. That release made an impact on the Top 10 bestsellers from Monday to Friday, as the real star of that release immediately shot to the top of the sales charts, even before it was officially launched: Proxy Dragon. A hugely important card for basic Link Summoning infrastructure, its hot reception suggests that players are still expecting Link Monsters to be competitive despite their weak showing at last weekend's Regional Qualifiers. It may also suggest that with the Mega Pack reprints revealed, a lot of players are opting to go the singles route instead of picking up the 2017 Mega-Tins.

With Championship dueling returning this weekend, speculation around new themes was still running high; a breakout showing from World Chalice or Trickstars would go a long way toward establishing credibility for those themes, and savvy collectors are still picking them up, as well as supporting cards key to their success.

With no further ado, let's look at the Top 10 biggest movers in the TCGplayer Marketplace this week, from Monday to Friday.

#10: Decode Talker

We haven't seen Decode Talker in the Top 10 for a while now, but the release of Proxy Dragon in the 2017 Mega-Tins seems to have revitalized some interest in Link Monster heavy strategies, and they all run Decode Talker. A lot of players who were sleeping on the Link Summoning mechanic are coming around now that more of the integral support cards are arriving, and the trending status of Decode Talker is likely one of the results of that.

#9: Ib the World Chalice Priestess

The World Chalice theme's still the hottest new prospect from Code of the Duelist, and Ib the World Chalice Priestess is key to that strategy. It's also quite splashable, appearing as a staple Link Monster in many Link-centric decks in the current OCG landscape, so it's worth picking up even if you're not interested in World Chalices as a whole.

That said, World Chalice Guardragon came in at Number 11 this week, and

Lee the World Chalice Fairy sold enough copies to clock in at Number 12 as well, so there's clearly some continued hype and high hopes for the World Chalice deck itself. Will that anticipation and speculation pay off? We'll need to see the results from the YCS tournaments and Regional Qualifiers this weekend to know for sure.

#8: Link Spider

Arguably the most important Link Monster available today along with Missus Radiant, Link Spider's a must-own for a variety of complicated combos as well as simple power plays with stuff like Blackwing - Gofu the Vague Shadow. It's been a huge seller since Link Strike released, and the enthusiasm surrounding Proxy Dragon continued to sell more copies this week.

#7: Transmodify

Transmodify was big over the weekend and it sold strongly through the week as well, played by new themes like Trickstars and Goukis. With Regional Qualifiers kicking up there may be more speculation on this card since we may see a breakout showing from Trickstars, or a lucky top from Goukis. But it's sort of a weird situation; the conversation about Transmodify has died down in recent weeks here in TCG territories, and I haven't seen it winning or topping anything in the OCG for quite a while.

Will demand hold? We'll have to see what happens in tournaments the next couple days. Transmodify could easily disappear from the top of the charts by Monday.

#6: Blackwing - Gofu the Vague Shadow

With Proxy Dragon finally in the mix and Link-centric strategies starting to become more attractive, the near perpetual demand for Blackwing - Gofu the Vague Shadow continued. No surprise here: if you're playing a lot of Link Monsters, you're likely going to run three copies of Gofu just to have the random chance of throwing down a Missus Radiant or Decode Talker as a 1-for-1 or better on your opening turn; converting Gofu's Vague Shadow Tokens into Link Spiders opens up several easy, high-impact plays, and while Gofu remains affordable it's going to keep selling until everyone simply have theirs already.

#5: Heavy Storm Duster

We saw Heavy Storm Duster see some very light play last weekend in Regional Qualifiers, but after so many Top 3 and Number 1 position sales finishes in the TCGplayer Marketplace, it felt like a bit of a disappointment. As one of the three most popular cards from Code of the Duelist, it really didn't seem to come off the bench that often, and it seemed to be a mixed-results Side Deck choice at best.

Right now, most players are succeeding with combo-heavy decks that want to be drawing combo pieces to build the biggest plays possible. If they're playing backrow cards, there's a good chance they're going to be True Draco Continuous cards, which you'd really rather Cosmic Cyclone than destroy, even if you're destroying them as a +1 of card economy. Heavy Storm Duster's an extremely powerful card, but it's time hasn't arrived quite yet. We'll have to see what opportunies impending new formats might present.

#4: Back to the Front

Back to the Front's another story, seeing absolutely no logged success in Regional Top 8's as far as I'm aware. Again, while it's an improvement over a card that was once a competitive staple – in this case Call of the Haunted – it just doesn't have a role in the shape of competition today.

Most competitive themes either don't care about reviving monsters from the graveyard, in part because it would take too long to get them there in the first place while you're stuck holding a dead trap; while others revive monsters on the reg, but have better, faster, more proactive ways of doing it.

It's the right card, at the wrong time.

#3: Pot of Desires

With Zoodiac variants doing about as well as everyone expected in the first round of Regional Qualifiers, Pot of Desires was a huge buy this week, freshly reprinted in the 2017 Mega-Tins. It's powerful, it's seeing play, and it's now available for a fraction of its previous price. A lot of players simply couldn't afford Pot of Desires before the reprint, and now that you can pick up a full playset for ten bucks, it sold like hotcakes even just through the Mega-Tins' pre-sale period.

#2: Proxy Dragon

But Proxy Dragon was even bigger! Offering an attractive effect, Left and Right Link Arrows, and some of the easiest Summoning conditions going for current Link Monsters, Proxy Dragon fits into virtually any Link Summoning strategy; it was one of the cards players were waiting for, before jumping in on the new mechanic.

Proxy Dragon's a huge enabler for some of the fiercest Link Summoning combos that players have been waiting for, from Firewall Dragon FTK's to ABC-Dragon Buster revivals, and it's really a must-own moving forward. Printed as a throw-in promo card with the 2017 Mega-Tins, it's really affordable right now and it was a huge buy in the TCGplayer Marketplace.

Of course, that leaves the Number 1 bestselling card of the week pretty easy to guess.

#1: Missus Radiant

The single most played Link Monster in competition today, Missus Radiant is practically a staple for Zoodiac variants moving forward, and will likely remain the most played Link Monster until Zoodiacs get whomped by the now-long-awaited F&L List. There's not much to say: it's the only Link Monster played in current Zoo decks, and since a lot of players are only really considering Pure, True Draco, or Kaiju Zoo variants for tournaments, it's a default must-own for pretty much everyone.

It also sees play in a variety of combo decks using Plant engines and M-X-Saber Invoker, so it's even more desirable than being “just” a one-of staple in the current decks-to-beat. That said, it's been available for a while now and with Proxy Dragon entering the arena – and two YCS tournaments shaking things up this weekend - Missus Radiant's supremacy in the TCGplayer Marketplace may not last forever.
