Welcome back to Market Watch, and welcome to our first look at the secondary market in the wake of the new Forbidden & Limited List!

The new List dropped Monday to demolish Zoodiacs and deal big blows to True Dracos and True King Dinosaurs, and while the Yugiverse is pretty settled on the dead-and-gone status of Zoo, the future of Dracos and Dinos could be brighter than some expect. Meanwhile other competitors have high hopes for the immediate potential of strategies like Trickstars, World Chalice, Infernoids, ABC's, Zombie Lightsworn, and Pendulum Magicians, and the future hype for SPYRALS, Vendreads, and a handful of other decks continues to grow.

The format's fresh and we've got some strong sales trends indicating what you might see in the first tournaments of competition, so let's get right to it! Here are the Top 10 bestselling cards by volume in the TCGplayer Marketplace, from Monday to Friday morning.

#10: Ghost Reaper & Winter Cherries

After seeing some big demand late in the previous format, Ghost Reaper & Winter Cherries has kept on selling well through the debut of the new F&L despite the open-ended nature of competition at the moment. Reaper's reprint in the 2017 Mega Pack brought it to the masses, and it might've been the one card most impacted by a reprint announcement before that reprint actually arrived.

A lot of players still needed to pick it up, and they continue to do so even in the wide open metagames of this sunrise format.

#9: Missus Radiant

Previously Missus Radiant was the most relevant Link Monster in competition due to Zoodiacs. Now, with Zoodiacs gone, it's probably still one of the most important Links in the game; the new format was predictably kind to Link Monsters, and Missus Radiant's still one of the best.

#8: Harmonizing Magician

The biggest surprise of the week is probably the strong enthusiasm and huge buys backing Pendulum Magicians. Harmonizing Magician was the only Pendulum card to break into the Top 10, but we'll revisit this trend a little later, as a few more Pendulum Magician cards almost made the cut.

#7: Master Peace, the True Dracoslaying King

Arguably the biggest prospect of the new format, True Dracos took a couple of beatings on the F&L List, but none of the hits were directed toward Master Peace, the True Dracoslaying King. With Master Peace, Dragonic Diagram, and True Draco Heritage all intact, True Dracos could wind up being the new deck-to-beat. And the marketplace took notice.

#6: Toadally Awesome

That said, there's a ton of talk about the potential of Paleozoic Frogs in the new format as well; the deck lost nothing, but gained everything with the unrestricting of Rescue Rabbit and the release of its own personal Link Monster, Mistar Boy. The reprint's on an upward price trend after a total buyout in the TCGplayer marketplace, now available for $5. The Invasion: Vengeance original is in much deeper supply, but it's starting at about eight bucks.

Toadally Awesome's been far more expensive than those price points in the past, so it's an easy pick for speculators with deep enough pockets. For players who might want to run the deck themselves, it's still an easy investment to make. For now, at least.

#5: Pot of Desires

Still three bucks and still a must-run in practically everything, Pot of Desires dropped from the Number 1 and Number 2 spot it held so reliably the past few weeks, but still sold by the barrel to secure the Number 5 spot.

There are very few reasons to not run Pot of Desires these days, and if your deck gives you reasons, you probably don't want to be playing it.

#4: Preparation of Rites

Freshly moved from one-per-deck to two-per-deck, Preparation of Rites has sparked a ton of interest in anything and everything Ritual, bringing old strategies out of the woodwork and pushing enthusiasm for newer fare like Vendreads. Preparation of Rites and Pre-Preparation of Rites are both crazy powerful cards for the decks that can play them, and players have taken note, stocking up on both.

#3: Proxy Dragon

Again, the new F&L List does a lot to passively encourage the use of Link Monsters, and Proxy Dragon's been a massive pick since it debuted in the 2017 Mega-Tins. It's no surprise to see it at Number 3 in a brand new open format with an F&L List that arguably went light on key cards for Link Summoning strategies, leaving stuff like Firewall Dragon untouched.

Proxy Dragon is splashable, flexible, and the key enabler for a lot of crazy stuff that's still possible despite changes to the Advanced Format. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

#2: Rescue Rabbit

Rescue Rabbit's a crazypants card, and now it's back, with no errata, at three-per-deck. In a format where Paleozoic Frogs are arguably better than ever, and where Dinosaurs are looking to fill a few card slots… almost the precise number needed to run Rescue Rabbit and some Normal Dino backup.

I'd say “you do the math,” but you probably already did, along with thousands of other people, which is why Rescue Rabbit sold so many copies this week. The common from Dinosmasher's Fury will now run you about two bucks, and remains on an upward Price Trend.

#1: Wavering Eyes

And finally, Wavering Eyes sold an absolute berserk number of cards this week, surprising absolutely no one. It's rare to see such an insanely powerful card move from Forbidden status to being entirely gone from the F&L List, and the common consensus is that it could easily become one of the defining cards of the format, if not THE defining card.

Wavering Eyes is the singular reason players are now looking at Pendulum Magicians, Metalfoes, and other Pendulum strategies once again. The question that leaves us with isn't “Are Pendulum decks viable,” so much as, “Will Pendulum decks dominate competition to the point of threatening tournament play.”

Right now there's really no answer to that question, and that's created a situation where absolutely everybody needs a playset of Wavering Eyes, just in case. The common's technically on an upward Price Trend right now, but it's still available for less than a buck with free shipping.

What cards almost made the Top 10? Dragonic Diagram came in at Number 11, mirroring the high demand for Master Peace, the True Dracoslaying King. Burial from a Different Dimension sold to the Number 12 position, and Full Force Virus hung tight at Number 13 after its recent breakout showing in Kozmos – it's interesting to see such demand for that card, when it was played almost entirely to beat Zoodiacs.

Astrograph Sorcerer and Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer took Number 14 and Number 15 respectively, continuing to demonstrate interest in the Pendulum Magician deck. We'll have to see how that deck fares at this weekend's Ultimate Duelist Series in Florida; it's definitely seen some late week hype.

We also saw big niche interest in Blackwing - Gofu the Vague Shadow, Witch of the Black Forest, and Dreiath III, the True Dracocavalry General. Those cards sold in notable numbers too, but only to a limited number of buyers.

That's it for now, but with the Ultimate Duelist Series and four Regional Qualifiers this weekend we're going to see some big responses to early competitive trends come Monday's Market Watch. OTS Championships are just a week away too, which are sure to make local impressions but may not inform wider competition. It's going to be an interesting couple of weeks.

See you on Monday!
