The first Regional weekend of the new Advanced Format is over, and so is the Ultimate Duelist Series Invitational! Now, we have our first look at the highest-selling cards of the new era of competition, as players react to news about the most successful strategies.

The Top 8 of the Ultimate Duelist Series consisted of Trickstars, ABC-Dragon Buster, and True Dracos with one seat each, and then a whopping five duelists playing Pendulum Magicians… including eventual winner, our new Ultimate Duelist Jeff Jones! That kicked off huge demand for Pendulum Magicians on Sunday, but a TON of other decks topped Regionals as well, and those strategies had some influence in the TCGplayer Marketplace too.

On top of that, no fewer than three of the four promo cards from the Code of the Duelist: Special Edition release made the Top 10. You can probably guess which card didn't make it, but spoiler: it was Cyberse Beacon.

The first hit of the weekend was one of those very promos, so let's dive right into the countdown with the tenth highest-selling card across the TCGplayer Marketplace, from Friday to Monday morning.

#10: Skull Meister

The long-maligned, occasional Top Cut-making hand trap saw an uptick in popularity after some recent tournament success, and a Special Edition reprint that took it from 20+ dollars to about a buck-fifty. With an effect that actually makes it comparable or better than Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring in some matchups, Skull Meister could prove to be relevant as competition moves forward.

We've already seen it topping Regionals this past weekend, so it's definitely something to keep in the back of your mind.

#9: Double Iris Magician

The next five cards in the Top 10 are all here because of Pendulum Magicians. The tale of the Top 8 at the UDS in Kissimee Florida got around fast, and Pendulum Magician lists that topped Regionals are still trickling in. Keep an eye on the Deck Archive in the next day or two as we continue to add more decks from the weekend.

#8: Astrograph Sorcerer

While Astrograph Sorcerer was an optional card that wasn't always played in Top Cut Pendulum Magicians in the past, it's now emerging as a must-run, thanks in large part to its interaction with Wavering Eyes. Destroying two or more Pendulums with Wavering lets your search Astrograph Sorcerer, while also providing the destruction needed to Special Summon it and trigger its own search effect. Hayden Maker talked about that play coming off his Top 8 in St. Louis .

Two free searches and a free beatstick is pretty good when it's rolled into the activation of what may be the best card in the game, not to mention all the other uses for Astrograph.

Monster Effect : If a card(s) you control is destroyed by battle or card effect: You can Special Summon this card from your hand, then you can choose 1 monster in the Graveyard, Extra Deck, or that is banished, and that was destroyed this turn, and add 1 monster with the same name from your Deck to your hand. You can banish this card you control, plus 4 monsters from your hand, field, and/or Graveyard (1 each with "Pendulum Dragon", "Xyz Dragon", "Synchro Dragon", and "Fusion Dragon" in their names); Special Summon 1 "Supreme King Z-ARC" from your Extra Deck. #7: Harmonizing Magician

A crazy Level 4 Tuner in a strategy that only seems to have become even more focused on Synchro Summons, Harmonizing Magician is the gateway to a wealth of Synchro Monsters, the most mundane being PSY-Framelord Omega and Ignister Prominence, the Blasting Dracoslayer. From there it just gets crazier, with monsters like Beelze of the Diabolic Dragons, Enlightment Paladin, and Supreme King Dragon Clear Wing in the mix.

The Pendulum Magician deck powers out some amazing Synchros, almost entirely thanks to Harmonizing Magician, and often fields them for a single card. Crazy stuff.

When this card is Pendulum Summoned from the hand: You can Special Summon 1 "Magician" Pendulum Monster from your Deck in Defense Position, except "Harmonizing Magician", but it has its effects negated, also banish it when it leaves the field. You can only use this effect of "Harmonizing Magician" once per turn.

#5: Wavering Eyes

And finally, the card that's making it all happen: Wavering Eyes was down from the Number 1 spot last week, but still hung tight at Number 5 after accomplishing some frightening and not-at-all unpredictable things at the UDS Invitational. This is a format-shaping card, and a must-own as both a current play, and a potential counter if competition comes to that point.

#3: Pot of Desires

…And both cards have remained wildly popular even through the format change.

Again, with the first weekend of competition offering a huge, wide open field of deck choices, generic splashable cards like Proxy Dragon and Pot of Desires are some of the most attractive cards in the game. There are very few decks that don't want to play Pot of Desires these days.

#2: Mistar Boy

But Mistar Boy outsold them both! Seemingly custom-made for Paleozoic Frogs, we already saw Mistar Boy carry at least one player to a Top 8 finish in Regional Qualifiers . With Rescue Rabbit back at three-per-deck Mistar Boy's just too good; a Missus Radiant for Water decks that lets you reuse cards like Spellbook Magician of Prophecy.

Mistar Boy does ridiculous stuff right now, and with that top hat and monocle, it looks good doing it.

#1: Solemn Strike

Finally, the bestselling card of the weekend is no surprise whatsoever, as the Code of the Duelist: Special Edition reprint brought Solemn Strike from nearly twenty dollars to seven. That's still an insanely high price point for a Special Edition reprint, but a lot of top decks from the weekend are running more traps than we usually saw last format, and Solemn Strike appears to be the most popular.

With an MSRP of $9.99, Code of the Duelist: Special Editions are actually selling for twelve dollars and up here at TCGplayer. The massive demand for Solemn Strike is one of the biggest reasons that's happening, and it might not slow down any time soon.

What else was hot? The Spellbook draw engine of Spellbook Magician of Prophecy, Spellbook of Secrets, and Spellbook of Knowledge finally started seeing serious play this weekend, and that drove Knowledge to the Number 11 spot.

Black Fang Magician and Time Pendulumgraph took Number 12 and Number 13, showing that the enthusiasm for Pendulum Magicians runs deep, while Missus Radiant and Denko Sekka rounded out the Top 15.

Pendulum Magicians are definitely the story of the weekend in the TCGplayer Marketplace so far, but the interest in Code of the Duelist: Special Edition is almost unique, while we have some strong market indicators showing that a lot of players are considering Paleozoic Frogs and the Spellbook draw engine. Watch for all of those trends at your locals.
