The Legendary Dragon Decks Collector's Set launched on Friday, and to the surprise of some, it made a huge impact on the TCGplayer Marketplace this weekend.

Reprints and new cards from LEDD took a combined total of seven spots in the Top 10 bestsellers list from Friday to Monday, and the remaining three chart toppers were reprints of high-powered generic cards. If you've been with us the past couple of weeks here in Market Watch you might be able to guess what those three power-reprints were, but the reception to the LEDD release is a bit more interesting.

With no further ado, let's get right into the Top 10, starting with one of the Legendary Dragon Decks' biggest rereleases.

#10: Magician Navigation

Magician Navigation appeared as a three-of in John Wieninger's 1st Place deck from the OTS Championship at Kirwan's Game Store in New York last weekend , and in post-event remarks, Wieninger lauded the card's power level. A free +1 of card economy that fields two monsters for one trap card, its graveyard effect can counter Field Spells, as well as powerful Continuous Spells and Traps in decks like True Dracos and Trickstars.

Field Spells are huge right now, and the ability to shut them down is just icing on the cake for a card that Summons two beatsticks in an instant. While the 2017 Mega Pack reprinting brought Navigation down to under ten bucks from what was once a $20-$25 price point, it's now down to just over two dollars thanks to LEDD.

#9: Ghost Reaper & Winter Cherries

Meanwhile Ghost Reaper & Winter Cherries just continues to build steam in tournaments, as Pendulums and Extra Deck combo plays grow into bigger competitive factors. The rising popularity of strategies like ABC-Dragon Buster and Invoked have combined with the surge of Demise True Draco variants to create a situation where Ghost Reaper gets more and more effective each week, while becoming easier to play in some of the top strategies.

#8: Pot of Desires

Pot of Desires has rarely slipped from the Top 3 since its reprint in the 2017 Mega-Tins. It's become a staple for almost every deck in competition, and its sheer power level combined with its new, and much more affordable price tag means it just. Keeps. Selling.

At this point the biggest question is, “Who's buying them?” It's rare to see a card sell so consistently for so long, even when it's a competitive staple. But the demand just keeps mounting, and Pot of Desires shows no real signs of slowing down, hanging onto a spot in the Top 10 even while a new release steals the spotlight.

Are there really players who don't own Pot of Desires yet? Or is the demand driven by market speculation? It's very rare to see collectors and vendors speculate on a guaranteed promo card, but that may be part of the situation this time around. Or perhaps it's reflective of the mass influx of casuals that have entered the game in the past year becoming more competitive.

#7: Odd-Eyes Arc Pendulum Dragon

Back on the Legendary Dragon Decks side of things, Odd-Eyes Arc Pendulum Dragon was one of three new cards in the release, and despite being the least competitive of the three, it's still a nice combo with Sky Iris or the original Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon, and it sold exceedingly well over the course of the weekend.

Pendulums are a lot hotter right now than many expected, so people are taking new Pendulum cards pretty seriously as long as they have a sufficient level of power. Arc Pendulum Dragon seems to have qualified.

#6: Dark Magician the Dragon Knight

Arguably the most anticipated card of the set, Dark Magician the Dragon Knight protects all of your spell and trap cards, serves as Dark Magician for the sake of your theme-stamped cards, and hits the field easily off The Eye of Timaeus.

As a 3000 ATK beatstick that works to guarantee the integrity of the cards keeping it secure, it's a very solid card in a deck that just hasn't had a big tournament breakthrough yet. That said, the reprinting of a particularly scarce card for the Dark Magician theme may improve that situation; more on that in a bit.

#5: Duelist Alliance

Previously a twelve dollar card in its original Secret Rare form, Duelist Alliance is a staple of the Pendulum Magician deck that can now be had for less than two bucks. A combo-starting search card for the biggest deck of the format so far, competitors are topping big events with anywhere between one and three copies. Now that it's widely available to virtually all duelists, expect to see a few more Pendulum Magician decks in your upcoming tournaments.

#4: Eternal Soul

Cutting the price of the original in half, the Eternal Soul reprint is a mix of useful effects that turn your Dark Magicians into absolute powerhouses. Whether you need to field a Dark Magician or capitalize on existing field presence, Eternal Soul helps advance your position in the game, and that makes it a frequent three-of.

#3: Solemn Strike

Solemn Strike was our Number 1 bestseller for quite a while, and even the release of Legendary Dragon Decks couldn't knock it out of the Top 3. Solemn Strike's seen a big rise in play lately, and for good reason, as it cuts all the big decks off at the knees before they can get going.

#2: Chimeratech Megafleet Dragon

Back in the day, Cyber Dragon was a huge threat in part because it could steal opposing monsters, swiping them to make a huge Chimeratech Fortress Dragon for an instant plus and an immediate threat.

The bestseller of the three new cards from LEDD rekindles that spirit from years ago, but instead of robbing your opponent of their Machine-type monsters – an effect that would only apply to a narrow range of matchups today – you steal a monster from their Extra Monster Zone; almost universally applicable. Your opponent' most important monster will often be the one in that Zone, either their most powerful one at the time or the one they depend on for further Extra Deck Summons. For many intents and purposes, Chimeratech Megafleet Dragon is better than a Kaiju.

Granted, Kaijus can drop over any monster and can prove to be live cards in different situations. But the utility comparison's really intriguing: a Kaiju will usually only be valuable when your opponent controls a monster that's worth a minus to remove. But at the same time, it can drop over any monster you need to eliminate. Topdecking a Cyber Dragon is actually going to be better in a variety of situations, since even without a key monster to send to the graveyard, it's still a 2100 beat stick if you're using the basic original Cyber Dragon.

Speaking of, Cyber Dragon Core and Toon Cyber Dragon offer different levels of access to Chimeratech Megafleet Dragon, albeit in very specialized ways. Core can work nicely in mill-driven decks, though there's going to be some luck factor there. Toon Cyber Dragon's less effective as an immediate attacker, but can be searched as a single copy with three Toon Table of Contents for deck thinning and greater control.

Chimeratech Megafleet Dragon may prove to be a game changer in the coming weeks. Right now it may be undervalued, as just the seventh highest priced card in LEDD: they can be had for two bucks despite the huge demand.

#1: Apprentice Illusion Magician

And finally, the biggest pull from Legendary Dragon Decks may not be a surprise: Apprentice Illusion Magician! After climbing to absolutely staggering prices, the original SHONEN JUMP promo version fell to the 30-dollar range and continues to plummet, with the reprint going for a reliable $10.

It was a hugely welcome move for most, giving players an aggressively-minded way to correct their hands by trading unneeded cards for a Dark Magician search. That brings Magician Navigation online, which may be the deck's single most important play. It also sets up Magical Dimension, and can load your graveyard with cards like Magician's Rod and Magician's Robe (Apprentice Illusion Magician goes a long way to making Robe playable).

It's tough to tell where the Dark Magician deck is going to go from here. It's flirted with Top Cut success ever since The Dark Illusion, but the biggest factor holding it back might have been Apprentice Illusion Magician's price point. This is a largely casual deck that may require three copies of what was – before this reprint – a card that cost as much as 80 dollars or more. Now that the floodgate's open we might finally see some tournament representation.

Time will tell.
