The first Regional Qualifiers of the new format arrived this weekend, and while results from those events are still being logged, we saw some direct fallout from the ARGCS in St. Louis , played last weekend under the new F&L List.

Most of the trends we observed last week from Monday to Friday remained in place, though a couple of tech picks from the ARGCS definitely shone through from Friday to this morning. Definitely check out that last Market Watch if you haven't seen it yet , but aside from that, we can dive right in to this week's Top 10!

#10: Solemn Strike

Solemn Strike briefly fell from the Top 10 last week when it was bumped off by Metaverse, but spoiler: Metaverse only gained steam over the course of the weekend. With the heat dying down on the biggest new cards from Cyberse Link - Tri-Gate Wizard and Binary Sorceress – there was room for Solemn Strike to return to the Top 10 once again.

And why wouldn't it? Early results in the new format have shown us a wide open field similar to the Top Cut from the ARGCS in St. Louis a week ago, and while Solemn Strike is certainly fantastic against a lot of specific matchups, it's also very good when you're just not sure what you'll be up against.

#9: Number 41: Bagooska the Terribly Tired Tapir

Bagooska clocked in at Number 8 last week, and it slipped just a tad over the weekend. It's a clearly popular card in all sorts of strategies right now, and with such a low rarity and price point, it's a popular card for duelists from all walks of life. With a powerful set of effects that can slow games and turn the tables on your opponent, Bagooska's fast become one of the most influential – and most played – Rank 4's in competition.

#8: Metaverse

Up from Number 10, Metaverse is seeing more play now that Set Rotation is Limited and fallen from favor. Benjamin Deeter led the charge with three copies in his Trickstar build, proving the card's viability to at least some degree. As slow as Metaverse may be by comparison to Terraforming, Trickstar Light Stage is simply so powerful that Metaverse is actually worth considering.

Will it continue to see play? That's a toss-up; results are still rolling in from Regionals this weekend. But in a day or two we'll see lots of Top Cut lists from those tournaments, and we'll have a better idea of Metaverse's place in the new format.

#7: Terraforming

Speaking of Terraforming, while it didn't make the Top 10 last week it certainly did over the weekend. It's probably safe to say about as many players are running SPYRALs today as they were two weeks ago – perhaps less, but certainly not more – so the demand for Terraforming probably isn't coming from the continuing interest in that strategy.

Does the upswing in demand indicate rising interest in Trickstars? True Dracos? Dinosaurs? It could be one of those strategies, it could be all three, or it could be a whole lot more. For now, I think this is another strong warning that you have to be ready for Trickstars this winter.

#6: Anti-Spell Fragrance

Anti-Spell Fragrance was all over the ARGCS in St. Louis a week ago: Dylan Whitlow Top 8'd with two copies, Side Decking them in SPYRALs ; winner Joel White came 1st with three copies, siding them in Trickstars ; and former North American Champion Noah Greene Main Decked three copies in his Top 16 Burning Abyss build .

#5: Storming Mirror Force

Storming Mirror Force took the Number 5 spot last week, and that demand remained surprisingly steady through the weekend. It's seen a bit of on-and-off play in some logged decks from the OCG, but it's not super popular there and hasn't seen any recent Top Cut finishes here in the TCG. Despite that, it's recent reprint majorly spiked demand. I'm eager to paw through Regional results from this weekend to see if it had any impact.

#4: Dimensional Barrier

Number 4 last week, Dimensional Barrier remained the fourth bestselling card in the TCGplayer Marketplace over the weekend. A top answer to Pendulum Magicians – still the number one hyped strategy for the new format despite the deck's underwhelming finish at ARGCS St. Louis - Dimensional Barrier carries over to enough matchups to seem like a safe bet to most competitors, and its Cyberse Link reprint made it even cheaper – look for it at the right time and you can find it for under a buck.

#3: Proxy Dragon

Stealing Binary Sorceress' spot from last week, Proxy Dragon continues to be one of the biggest Link Monsters in the game, becoming a must-run in strategy after strategy as more and more players find more use for an ever-widening lineup of Link Monsters. Every time we see more Link Monsters released, it's effectively a shot in the arm for Proxy Dragon, and Cyberse Link sparked another round of renewed demand.

#2: Pot of Desires

Still probably the top-selling card of 2017… we won't know for sure until January… Pot of Desires slumped just a little bit after SPYRALs took 7 seats in the Top 16 at the ARGCS. Played in almost every other strategy, it's still a must-own, but the sales numbers often tend to correlate with the perceived strength of SPYRALs.

That said, sometimes the sales numbers defy that trend anyways. Pot of Desires is one of the most powerful cards available today, arguably the best card in the game right now, and the sheer volume of copies sold is almost mind boggling at this point. Dodging a hit on the latest F&L List really helped its secondary market prospects, and it's now pushing the $3 mark.

#1: Cosmic Cyclone

But it was outsold, as the reprinted Cosmic Cyclone brings one of the most powerful backrow removal effects of all time to the masses. Despite massive sales it's actually on a downward price trend as more and more copies continue to hit the market from a relatively small pool of sellers in the TCGplayer Marketplace, all of whom seem willing to compete on price. That's often the case for a profitable Structure Deck like Cyberse Link; big suppliers like it when they can sell a couple cards from each Structure and effectively bank the rest of their stock from that release as free.

Will this translate into more play for Cosmic Cyclone? We'll have to wait and find out; the past few weeks have seen upticks in play for this card, as well as Mystical Space Typhoon and Twin Twisters week by week, so it's pretty up in the air. That said, if you're running something that's especially vulnerable to Cosmic Cyclone, be on the lookout for it in the next week or two.

The odds that your opponent at least owns a playset they COULD be playing are getting higher and higher.

Also big this week? Elder Entity N'tss sold in absolute droves coming off the Regional and ARGCS success of Lightsworn Infernoids. We posted a bit about that on our official social media accounts and got some pshaws in response, but rest assured, Infernoids are making moves.

We also saw big demand for Astrograph Sorcerer, Performapal Skullcrobat Joker, and Harmonizing Magician, though not enough to get any of them quite into the Top 10. The stumble for Pendulum Magicians at the ARGCS clearly hasn't slowed interest.

With so many Regional Qualifiers this past weekend, how will the Marketplace shake out this week? We'll be logging Regional results in the Deck Archive over the next two days, and we'll be back on Friday with a fresh look at a new Market Watch Top 10.

Thanks for reading; we'll see you then.
