In the wake of the last Regional Qualifiers of the year, welcome to our Monday Market Watch!

Regional Qualifiers in Louisville and Las Vegas drew the 2017 season to a close in North America, and results from those events – as well as the prior Regional weekend – pushed several cards into the bestseller list from Friday to this morning.

Looking beyond our shores, the OCG Jump Festa live stream revealed a ton of upcoming products like the 2018 Starter Deck, commemorative, merch, and details about Rarity Collection: 20th Anniversary Edition and Flames of Destruction . The FLOD news was especially influential in our secondary market, with a certain fan-favorite theme getting an impressive Link Monster.

That reveal launched two cards into the Top 10, and we'll discuss those more when we get further down the list. For now, we'll start with the tail end result of a continued trend the past few weeks, as a discarded card rotates back into competition.

#10: Astrograph Sorcerer

Yes, Astrograph Sorcerer was back in action last week, played in decks like this Top 8 build from the Kissimmee Regional . And while we've certainly seen it spike in sales without competitive success as a factor, the heightened demand makes a little more sense now than it did in previous weeks.

Astrograph fell from competitive favor over a month and a half ago; it's unclear if this was a blip on the radar or the beginning of a real trend, but we definitely know that more players are picking up the card regardless.

Monster Effect : If a card(s) you control is destroyed by battle or card effect: You can Special Summon this card from your hand, then you can choose 1 monster in the Graveyard, Extra Deck, or that is banished, and that was destroyed this turn, and add 1 monster with the same name from your Deck to your hand. You can banish this card you control, plus 4 monsters from your hand, field, and/or Graveyard (1 each with "Pendulum Dragon", "Xyz Dragon", "Synchro Dragon", and "Fusion Dragon" in their names); Special Summon 1 "Supreme King Z-ARC" from your Extra Deck. #9: Link Spider

Link Spider became even more popular in the last two rounds of Regional Qualifiers, with more decks starting to splash cards that Summon Token Monsters. Link Spider's always been a fundamental tool for climbing into bigger Links, but we're seeing players run as many as three copies in Top Cut Trickstar builds, while players are doubling down in everything from SPYRALs to Frogs and Dinosaurs.

#8: Decode Talker

On a similar note, Decode Talker's another very fundamental Link Monster that sees lots of play across a wide range of strategies, but like Link Spider it's started to see more use in multiples. Its sheer beatdown power made it the topic of brief note in multiple post-event interviews this month, and multiple copies are starting to prove especially popular with SPYRAL players.

#7: Wind-Up Rat

And there's your headline!

The reveal of Wind-Up Maintenance Zenmaicon in Flames of Destruction sent players scrabbling to dust off their Wind-Ups and stock up on the theme's best three-ofs, putting Wind-Up Rat at Number 7. That hasn't created a price spike for Rat yet, but there were literally only nine copies left in the TCGplayer Marketplace as of this writing, so a full buyout and a higher Market Price could arrive any moment.

With a powerful search effect, an Xyz Material assist, and an effect that lets you cycle through cards like Wind-Up Rat to abuse their effects, Rat was an obvious target for speculation. Add the fact that the rodent's never been reprinted since its first appearance in Order of Chaos back in 2012, and you've got the recipe for big demand.

As far as speculators are concerned, it's got “opportunity” written all over it.

#6: Number 41: Bagooska the Terribly Tired Tapir

With SPYRALs still on top and Pendulum Magicians continuing to garner hype, Bagooska shot up to Number 6 this week. It's almost surprising it's not here more often, since it's so often referred to as the best Rank 4 in the game.

#5: Wind-Up Magician

Selling even more copies than Wind-Up Rat, Wind-Up Magician took the Number 5 spot. Magician was never reprinted after its debut in Generation Force, but its lower rarity means there are far more copies available. That meant a lower price point, and more copies of the card to fill demand.

The takeaway? I think if there were more Wind-Up Rats to go around we might have seen it rank even higher in this Top 10. For now though, it's Magician ruling the Wind-Up roost.

#4: PSY-Framegear Epsilon

While Epsilon's been seeing play as an answer to Trickstar Reincarnation since it broke out at YCS Prague, it absolutely exploded in Regional Qualifiers last weekend, sparking a huge demand in the TCGplayer Marketplace. Trickstars had a couple of big weeks that reaffirmed their status as the best deck to tackle SPYRALs, and that sparked a tremendous amount of use in Side Decks.

PSY-Framegear Gamma was massive in Main Decks too, making it even easier for players to side Epsilon. If you're playing Trickstars yourself, be ready to see it all over the place in your upcoming locals.

#3: Proxy Dragon

A Top 5 staple here in Market Watch, Proxy Dragon's only really fallen from the Top 10 in recent memory when a new set has arrived to briefly sweep the marketplace. One of the most important and popular Link Monsters in the game, Proxy Dragon continues to see play in 1's and 2's in basically everything that Link Summons, and that once again placed it at Number 3, just like last week.

#2: Pot of Desires

Speaking of Market Watch staples, regular readers will recognize Pot of Desires from its omnipresent status in our Top 10's. Its reprinting in the 2017 Mega Pack skyrocketed its availability, and demand is still following suit as its price remains solid at three bucks.

#1: The Winged Dragon of Ra – Sphere Mode

But once again, Pot of Desires was outsold by Sphere Mode, still fresh off its reprinting in the Circuit Break: Special Edition. Now down to $3 from a $15+ price point, Sphere Mode's a rigid answer to big, control-oriented fields like those established by SPYRALs. And while it's still not very common in Top Cut decks, the sheer volume of copies being purchased suggests it may become more common in the coming weeks.

We'll have to wait and see more deck lists from this past weekend before we can tell if it's really taking root.

Beyond the Top 10, we saw Elder Entity N'tss come in at Number 11, suggesting sustained interest in Infernoids. If you're not familiar with the deck's current form, it uses Void Imagination and sometimes Future Fusion along with Infernoid Tierra to unleash the destructive graveyard effects of three N'Tss at once.

Honest came in at Number 13, once again demonstrating the impact of its latest reprint as well as the substantial demand for Trickstar cards. High niche sales of Eater of Millions continued to tell the story of Trickstars' popularity. Meanwhile Anti-Spell Fragrance and Cosmic Cyclone took the Number 12 and Number 14 spots; both are popular flex cards in a variety of strategies.

That's it for today, but we'll be back on Friday for another look at the bestselling cards in the TCGplayer Marketplace.
